General Information
Description:
Software Testing is a key factor in successful software projects. However, practice shows, that testing team members often are not equally integrated within a project life cycle, as for instance programmers and, according to best practice approaches, are frequently involved too late. Thus, after outlining the common V-Model and its test types, the WModel, which extends the V-Model, will be discussed considering best practice approaches. Based on the W-Model, which states testing activities more clearly, di erent types of software test tools and possible classi cation methods, e.g. static/dynamic, black box/white box, will be discussed. Based on the proposal of the International Software Testing Quali cation Board (ISTQB), testing tools are classi ed according to their testing activities into Management Tools, Static Testing Tools, Test Speci cation Tools, Test Execution Tools, Test Peformance and Monitoring Tools, as well as Project-Speci c Test Tools. Each of this type will be discussed and illustrated by referring modern test tools, that ful ll the classi cation requirements of ISTQB. Some technological challenges, like the implementation of so called test oracles will be raised as well.
