General Information Description: Software Testing is a key factor in successful software projects.
However, practice shows, that testing team members often are not equally
integrated within a project life cycle, as for instance programmers and,
according to best practice approaches, are frequently involved too late.
Thus, after outlining the common V-Model and its test types, the WModel,
which extends the V-Model, will be discussed considering best
practice approaches. Based on the W-Model, which states testing activities
more clearly, dierent types of software test tools and possible
classication methods, e.g. static/dynamic, black box/white box, will
be discussed. Based on the proposal of the International Software Testing
Qualication Board (ISTQB), testing tools are classied according to
their testing activities into Management Tools, Static Testing Tools, Test
Specication Tools, Test Execution Tools, Test Peformance and Monitoring
Tools, as well as Project-Specic Test Tools. Each of this type will
be discussed and illustrated by referring modern test tools, that fulll
the classication requirements of ISTQB. Some technological challenges,
like the implementation of so called test oracles will be raised as well. Creation Date: 11/25/2011 Submission Date: 11/25/2011 Object Type: Single Object
